Cleaning Paint Brushes

So we are doing some projects that include painting and the discussion came up here at home about the "proper" way to clean the dirty paint brushes.   Naturally, with all the men in this house, we had MANY suggestions on "HOW" to do this.  With that, I did the "google" hunt and happened upon a REALLY good link.

The next time you are painting, you will KNOW how to take care of that expensive paint brush and it should last you for years to come.

Organic Gardening - Black Spot

A couple of years ago I had some red tip photinia bushes that developed black spot. I had used a recipe by Howard Garret (the Dirt Doctor) and it worked. I again needed my recipe and this time went on-line to find the remedy. I thought I would give you the link as there were many remedies listed. In the past, the recipe I used was the baking soda mixed with detergent. It was effective and I had the ingredients on hand.

Favorite Places to Eat in Ft Worth

So, here is kind of a take-off idea I got from Tim Ingram, a pastor at HighRidge as he had friends answering to a question he had posted, "What's your favorite restaurant in Ft. Worth?"  He received many comments and a lot of the places I have never heard of so therefore have never eaten there.  I just couldn't let all that knowledge be lost to the facebook archives so I am posting the list of favorites from his friends comments.

These are just in the order they were posted to facebook and not in order of people's favorite. Get your fork ready...I have listed the Restaurant Name and then followed it up with a Favorite Dish if provided:

  1. Mi Cocina's Ernie's Chicken
  2. Esperanza's Mexican Breakfast
  3. Uncle Julio's (some say it is over-rated)
  4. Terras - Best Mediterranean
  5. Maharashrta - Best Indian
  6. Edohana - Best Fried Rice/Sushi
  7. Hard Eight BBQ - Best BBQ
  8. Mama's Pizza - Best Local Pizza Buffet
  9. Zeke's Fish and Chips - Best Fish in FW
  10. Mexican Inn
  11. West Side Cafe
  12. Fuzzy's Taco's
  13. Lucille's Bistro on Camp Bowie - Seafood Fondue, Spinach Dip, Creamy Lobster Bisque or the Chicken Fried Steak which is FABULOUS.  Lobsterfest (seasonally), Homemade Pie (made at home by Marlyne who is one of the staff there) is INCREDIBLE!  A true Bistro.
  14. Cousins BBQ
  15. Granny's Tacos on Long Avenue, Diamond Hill
  16. Logan's
  17. Lightcatcher Winery  (http://www.lightcatcher.com/lcwcatering.htm)
  18. Joe T Garcia's
  19. The Original off Camp Bowie
  20. Mac's on 7th Street
  21. Rio Mambo on Bryant Irvin - Chicken Enchiladas
  22. Texas De Brazil
  23. Jalisco @ the Grand Plaza
  24. Tejas - TexMex Food
  25. Risky's BBQ @ Main Store on 25th Street and off 28th Street.
So these were their top choices but I love Taste of Asia off Bryant Irvin and 20.  We all love to eat there from our family.  Good food.

the Wedding

My husband and I were invited to a wedding today and were so moved.  We really didn't know the couple getting married, we knew the bride's mother.  I wanted to share this song by Etta James, At Last.  See, a women sang this song right before the Bride came down the isle.  You know, most of us have been to weddings and unfortunately, I can count on one hand how many times I walked away saying, "Wow, that was an incredible vocalist."  Nothing against the fabulous people I have heard sing, but either sound systems are not up to par, or singers get nervous or who knows what, but the song doesn't quite come out the way I think it was expected to.  Well this women was a show stopper.  She was incredible.  It was the first of many moving things that were quite memorable at this wedding.

One more thing I want to share about this wedding was the desire of the bride and groom to have an alter call at their wedding.  They knew there would be friends and family there that were not sure of the destination upon their death.  You say and alter call at a wedding, hmmm.  Well, I totally loved it, because 25 years ago this August my husband and I did the same thing.  We had the salvation story shared with our friends and family and after the service I rejoiced with my guests who not only came to my wedding but were given an invitation to the Wedding Feast of the Lamb.

See this pastor tonight shared the parable of the ten virgins found in Matthew 25:1-13.  I have added it here for you to read from the Amplified version if you are not familiar with the parable.  Jesus is speaking:
"Mat 25:1 THEN THE kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom.

Take My Hand

I happened upon this You-Tube song and was inspired by the guy in it and by the song.  This is a bit different version of the song Take My Hand as "Meowmixeater" signs along to the music.

I have always enjoyed sign-language and have desired to better my skills.  If you enjoy signing, this guy is really phenomenal.  He is incredibly fast and fun to watch.  ENJOY!
